0.1 Prerequisites

  1. Enjoyed CEG 2350; Comfortable in Linux; Comfortable in Java
  2. Familiarity with Cloud storage: Expected.
  3. Familiarity with Cloud computing: Not expected.
  4. Familiarity with Android internals or app dev: Not expected.

0.2 Ownership

  1. Own an Android device – recent one (Android 5, 6, or 7; 4 may work)
  2. Own a laptop running Linux/ Android Studio

0.3 Accounts

  1. Get Your Own Accounts on Cloud Platforms
  2. Amazon Web Services You can sign up now for the AWS Free Tier for 12 months. Become aware of services that are not-free so that you are not charged.
  3. Google Cloud A free trial gives you $300 to spend on Google Cloud Platform over the next 60 days. So sign up when you are ready – not right now.
  4. Microsoft Azure Start free with $200 in credit. Unclear expiry. 30 days??
  5. "We use your credit card information for identity verification, but you’ll never be charged unless you choose to subscribe." But, take care.

0.4 Course Work

  1. There are seven Program Assignments to be turned in. Roughly, one every other week. Three of them are different phases of a project.
  2. A Midterm and a Final.
  3. No homework.
  4. Reading Assignments. Quite a few. Unchecked.
