Dr. Ramana Grandhi is the Distinguished Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Wright State University in Dayton, OH. In addition, he also serves as the Director of the Ph.D. in Engineering Program and the Director of the Ohio Center of Excellence for Product Reliability and Optimization (CEPRO), both at Wright State. He joined WSU as faculty in 1984 after recieving his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech.

His research interests include multidisciplinary structural optimization, reliability and risk analysis, metal-forming processes design, and structural mechanics. In these areas he is the author of over 200 journal publications and a textbook Reliability Based Structural Design, published by Springer in 2006. His group at WSU includes over 15 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. Dr. Grandhi is also a Fellow of AIAA and ASME.
