Students entering the university direct from high school (DFHS) and who meet the Direct Admit Criteria* are admitted as PRE majors in our college. All students including Pre and those Intending an Engineering or Computer Science (IECS) major must meet the College Undergraduate Admission Requirements appropriate to their program as shown below in order to become fully admitted to the College and to their major program of study.

Requirements for all students

All CECS major programs require that students meet the following specifications:

  • Completion of 24 or more semester hours of college level work
  • 2.25 cumulative GPA at WSU and in all academic work
  • C or higher in: ENG 1100 (or any WSU Core First-Year Writing Course)
  • The program-specific requirements listed below

Major-specific requirements

  • Biomedical Engineering - C or higher in: (CHM 1210/1210L or PHY 2400/2400L) and (EGR 1010 or MTH 2300)
  • Computer Engineering - C or higher in (CS 1180 or (CS 1160 and 1161)) and C or higher in CS 1181 and (MTH 2570 or CS 2200)
  • Computer Science - C or higher in (CS 1180 or (CS 1160 and 1161)) and C or higher in CS 1181 and (MTH 2570 or CS 2200)
  • Electrical Engineering - C or higher in: CEG 2170 and PHY 2400/2400L and (EGR 1010 or MTH 2300)
  • Industrial & Systems Engineering - C or higher in: (CHM 1210/1210L or PHY 2400/2400L) and (EGR 1010 or MTH 2300)
  • Mechanical Engineering - C or higher in: ME 1020 and (CHM 1210/1210L or PHY 2400/2400L) and (EGR 1010 or MTH 2300)
  • Material Science & Engineering - C or higher in: ME 1020 and (CHM 1210/1210L or PHY 2400/2400L) and (EGR 1010 or MTH 2300)

* Direct Admit status is only available to Direct From High School (DFHS) students who apply for fall admission; and have a 3.25 GPA or better and have no less than a 25 Comp ACT or 1160 SAT score. Direct Admit students are advised in the department of their major within the college.
