2019 NSF-REU SITE: INTELLIGENT AUTONOMOUS

Introduction
This
NSF REU site in the Department of Electrical Engineering of Wright State
University offers an eleven-week summer program that aims at providing a
diverse group of motivated undergraduates with competitive research experiences
in intelligent autonomous vehicles. The goal of this program is:
- To expose students to the emerging
areas of intelligent vehicles.
- To develop and apply technical
expertise in intelligent vehicles and in STEM.
- To develop professional research
skills as well as effective presentation and writing skills.
- To encourage retention and
graduate studies in STEM through REU achievements.
- To reach out to women and
underrepresented minorities and engage them in research opportunities.
Target
Applicants
- It is a requirement of the NSF
that all REU participants be citizens or permanent residents of the United
States.
- Participants must be enrolled as
undergraduates at the freshman, sophomore or junior level during the
semester prior to attending the summer program.
- Applicants should major in engineering,
computer science, physics, mathematics, or related fields; students who
seriously consider pursuing a graduate degree and/or careers in STEM are encouraged
to apply.
- Applicants must have a research
interest in intelligent autonomous vehicles, preferably with a GPA of 3.0
or higher. However, students with a strong research motivation and
professional background but a relatively lower GPA are also encouraged to
apply.
- Women and underrepresented minorities
are particularly encouraged to apply.
- Review of applications will
begin March 15, 2019 and will continue until all ten positions are
filled.
- A student will decide whether to
accept the offer within three days after he/she receives the offer.
- Multiple rounds of offers might
be extended to applicants.
- Program will be from May 06 to July
19, 2019.
