Summary

Prasad joined WSU after receiving a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He also has an M.E. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science at Bangalore, and a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras. His research interests are in  Information Extraction and Semantic Analysis of Social, Text and Sensor Data using AI/ML/NLP, and Trust with applications to health care, medical informatics, disasters, online harassment, etc. His work has been supported by NSF, NIH, AFOSR and local small businesses. His teaching interests are in Information Retrieval/Extraction, Algorithms, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, and Programming Languages. He has also published more than 130 peer-reviewed papers, co-wrote the research monograph “Semantics Empowered Web 3.0: Managing Enterprise, Social, Sensor and Cloud-based Data and Services for Advanced Applications,” and edited conference proceedings for three International Semantic Web Conferences.

Recently, Prasad won the 2023 Wright State University Trustees' Award for Faculty Excellence (the highest award conferred by WSU upon a faculty member). Prasad has also won the 2014-2015 (and 2007-2008) College of Engineering and Computer Science Outstanding Faculty Awards, 2011 Indian International Conference on AI Achievement Award, and 2011 Fritz J. Russ Award from Dayton Section of the IEEE.
